Tamara Broderick receives 2018 NSF CAREER Award

March 20, 2018

Tamara Broderick, ITT Career Development Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and IDSS Affiliate Faculty, has received an NSF CAREER Award for her research “Robust, scalable, reliable machine learning.” This research develops new, computationally motivated and theoretically sound techniques for robust machine learning at scale. “The potential for machine learning to dramatically impact and change people’s lives necessitates that machine learning methods be robust, explainable, and understandable — rather than black-box,” asserts Broderick. In addition to working with experts to have broad impact across many application domains, Broderick is also developing a high-school level introduction to machine learning as part of the established Women’s Technology Program (WTP).
