TPP and SES students win awards at annual Technology, Management, and Policy Consortium

Ian Schneider, an alum of the MIT Technology and Policy Program (TPP) and current Social and Engineering Systems (SES) PhD student at MIT, won Senior Paper at the annual Technology, Management, and Policy (TMP) Consortium. The paper was titled “Forward contracts for electricity and generator market power: How externalities reduce benefits in equilibrium.” The award was for best paper presentation by a PhD student.

The Junior Paper award for best paper presentation by a master’s student went to Nathaniel Fruchter, a current TPP student. His paper was titled “Security, bots, and governance: civic infrastructure for public participation in the age of the social botnet.”

The TMP Consortium, co-founded by MIT’s TPP program, is an annual international meeting of graduate students doing technology and policy research at both the PhD and SM level. Attendees present their work and strengthen the technology and policy research network. It has been held annually since the summer of 2002. This year’s consortium was held at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
