IDSS Announces New Postdocs for Academic Year

August 19, 2015

Dr. Michael Leung, a graduate of Stanford’s Department of Economics, has joined IDSS as a postdoctoral associate. Dr. Leung will work with professors Victor Chernozhukov and Daron Acemoglu, as well as other faculty in IDSS. He will start as an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Southern California after his postdoctoral year at MIT. His research interests are broadly focused on econometrics and networks.

Dr. Irène Waldspurger from École Normale Supérieure Paris will also join IDSS as a postdoctoral associate in January. Dr. Waldspurger comes to IDSS from the DATA team in the Computer Science Department. During her PhD, she worked mainly on inverse problems, especially on phase retrieval. Dr. Waldspurger is also interested in machine learning, classification, and detection problems. She will work with several IDSS faculty, including professors Philippe Rigollet in the Mathematics Department and Esther Duflo in the Department of Economics.

IDSS postdoctoral fellowships are highly competitive, interdisciplinary postdoctoral positions designed to foster cross-disciplinary research at the interface of social sciences, information and decision systems, and statistics.
